Ciudad de Bogotá Award Singing 2018

On June 5th, at Teatro Colón de Bogotá, the ‘City of Bogotá 2018 Singing Award’ final was held, part of the District Programme of incentive for culture in the capital of Colombia.

For more than ten years, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá has promoted this event, which has become a platform to position the talent and professional training of Colombian lyric singers.

The winners of the Bogotá City Singing Award 2018 were:

  • Training category: Laureano Quant, baritone.
  • Excellence category: Paola Leguizamón, mezzosoprano.
  • Honorable mention in the Excellence category: soprano Rocío Quintero and the mezzo-soprano Yeraldin León.

The mezzo-soprano Paola Leguizamón, was recognized as the best concert song interpreter, won the Victoria De Los Ángeles Foundation award. Obtaining the opportunity to participate in a series of recitals in Bogotá and Spain, along with the Spanish pianist and jury of the Bogotá City Singing Award, the maestro Rubén Fernández Aguirre.

The jury of this version of the Singing Award Ciudad de Bogotá 2018 was composed by the Venezuelan soprano, Mariana Ortiz; the Colombian mezzo-soprano, Sofía Salazar and the Spanish pianist, Rubén Fernández Aguirre. They were in charge of evaluating the interpretive technique, tuning, diction and performance on the stage of each of the participants, to determine the winners of this award.
