With musical direction by maestro Pedro-Pablo Prudencio and scenic proposal by André Heller-Lopes, the last title of the Municipal de Santiago season will be presented from 09 to 16 November at a special timing at 14 hrs. and 15 hrs.

The premiere of Faust, the last title of the 2019 opera season of the Municipal de Santiago, will take place on November 9 at 3:00 p.m. While the rest of the functions, both casts, will be performed at 2:00 p.m. on their respective dates.

Inspired by Goethe’s drama, the opera tells the tragic story of a man who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for youth.

Focused on the romantic meeting of Faust and Margarita and their tragic outcome, Gounod’s masterpiece has become a benchmark of the French grand opera, especially for its spectacular and romantic background, typical of the time it was conceived. In it, the voices are treated with the technique inherited from bel canto and the orchestra plays a fundamental role, with a lively and colorful orchestration, which tends to take an active role in the expression of the texts.
