Communications and Marketing Forum in São Paulo: The future of opera in a changing world

Foro de Comunicaciones y Marketing

The prelude to the 16th Annual Ópera Latinoamérica Conference took place on May 15 and 16 at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, with the OLA Communications and Marketing Forum. During two days, the opportunities and challenges related to the new digital environments and artificial intelligence were addressed, as well as new ways of developing communities of audiences that reveal the impact that cultural organisations have on people. We invite you to review the different presentations in this activity.

What is the link between the arts and new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse? How does it work a project that allows you to simulate artistic designs work and, with it, solve problems typical of the production and planning of stage projects? How is it possible to develop audiences in the age of hyperinformation, the maximization of content flows and increasingly hegemonic digital environments?

The questions above refer to the different topics that were discussed at the OLA Communications and Marketing Forum in São Paulo, as a prelude to the 16th Annual Conference of Ópera Latinoamérica. Between May 15 and 16, the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo received academics, programmers, communication and marketing teams, and other disciplines to discuss the opportunities and challenges that today’s world presents for the development of performing arts and the ties with new technologies and new audiences that have begun to appear.

The link between the arts and new technologies was addressed in instances such as New digital environments for the performing arts, Development and management of audience communities, and the Artificial Intelligence and future scenarios for the performing arts workshop, presented by Javier Ibacache, co-founder of the Latin American Network for the Development of Audiences (REDLAP), and Pepe Zapata, expert in cultural audiences and director of the Catalan cultural community TRESC. The VR Stage project was also exhibited, a project of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet that allows simulating artistic designs and, with it, solving problems inherent to the production and planning of stage projects.

We invite you to relive the themes and conversations that arose in this meeting, within the framework of the 16th Annual Conference of Ópera Latinoamérica.
