Brazilian Singing Contest María Callas will hold its 19th edition with a new format

In 2021 the 19th Callas Festival – María Callas Brazilian Song Contest, brings changes in its structure and only the eliminatory phase will be held in person. Participants must send a video singing an opera aria and the material will be evaluated by an internal commission of the Cia. Ópera São Paulo, made up of Paulo Esper – General and Artistic Director, Robson Tirotti – president of the Asociación Amigos de la Cia. Opera São Paulo and Fabiana Crepaldi – opera critic.

 

Aimed at Brazilian and Latin American singers, between 18 and 40 years old, registration will be open until February 5, 2021 and can be done through the Cia. Ópera São Paulo website: www.ciaopera.com.br

 

On February 12, those selected for the semifinal phase will be announced in person in São Paulo, which will take place in April. The final phase, maintaining the tradition of the contest, will be in the city of Jacareí / SP on April 28. Three artists will be awarded per category: female and male, and a special audience award that will be decided by the audience present at the final.

 

Added to this are hiring for the 2021 season of Cia. Óepra São Paulo – including the selection of characters for the opera I Pagliacci by Ruggero Leconcavallo, and participation in the 2021 season of the partners.

 

The jury will be made up of names of note and importance in the national and international lyrical scene. Among them we highlight Sabino Lenoci (editor-in-chief of l’Opera International Magazine – Italy), José Velasco (Artistic Advisor of the Bicentennial Theater of León – Mexico), Carlos Rauscher (Member of the Advisory Council and the Artistic Committee of Artistic Culture ) and Robert Gilder (Artistic Entrepreneur of Robert Gilder & Co. – England).
