OperaVision celebrates Mozart!

European digital platform that offers classical programming transmissions invites to Mozart Festival to be held from March 11 to April 17, with seven live performances of the austrian composer.

Wolfgang fans will be served to the highest standards on OperaVision, with its Mozart Festival running from 11 March to 17 April. Seven performances from five opera companies will be streamed, live and on-demand.

We open the festivities with the masterpiece Don Giovanni, brought in a fusion of modern and rococo styles by young Finnish actor-director Jussi Nikkilä, live from Finnish National Opera & Ballet.

The central event of OperaVision Mozart festival are the live streams of La Monnaie’s Da Ponte trilogy, with all three pieces staged by the same artistic team – Clarac-Deloeuil > Le Lab. These French directors have interlaced the stories of Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni, with some artists doubling up in two roles under the baton of Antonello Manacorda.

In April, Bergen National Opera brings you La clemenza di Tito, Mozart’s last opera, written for the coronation of Leopold II as king of Bohemia. This new Norwegian production, which opens on 21 March 2020, is directed by the acclaimed young director Rodula Gaitanou.

Follows the controversially exotic title Die Entführung aus dem Serail in a mesmerising production
by David McVicar first staged at Glyndebourne in 2015.

We close with Il sogno di Scipione, written by a 15-year-old Mozart, in a production from the iconic Teatro La Fenice Venice in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia for the sets and costumes, and the young talents of the Atelier della Fenice al Teatro Malibran in the chorus.
