Gran Teatro Nacional of Perú presents its Season 2019

In the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru, the 2019 opera season Lima’s scenario is made up by The Barber of Seville, Werther and La Pirricholi, well as the children opera The city under the sea

 

 

The Ministry of Culture will announce the 2019 Programming of the Gran Teatro Nacional de Lima on Wednesday, November 28th and officially present the new website of the institution. The platform will allow more citizens to get to know the artistic and cultural presentations of the GTN with interactive and audiovisual tools that also generate more active, critical and creative users.

 

In order to meet the goals set, the theatre will continue to program high-level artistic productions (dance, music, circus and family plays) using its impressive infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology.

 

In more than six years of work, the Gran Teatro Nacional has presented entertaining assemblies with world-class figures and strategic programs for the benefit of the school population. In partnership with prestigious cultural associations, he has designed successful projects aimed at the family, people with disabilities and the elderly, as well as a series of plays seen by more than 180,000 children and adolescents as part of its Public Training Programme.

 

By 2019, it will offer dance seasons with the participation of 13 local and foreign companies, 7 theatrical and circus shows, more than 80 concerts of classical, Latin American, folklore and pop-rock; a family program and 3 high-level operas.

 

The lyrical season is composed by The Barber of Seville, in the framework of the Granda Festival, and by Werther and La Perricholi of the Opera Season of the Ministry of Culture of Peru.  

 

Peruvian families will enjoy children’s opera, theater for babies, didactic concerts and experimental sessions. On the agenda are the city under the sea with the National Children’s Choir and the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Floating of Blue Borenstein, Allegro del Coro Voces del Sol, Flights of the company Aracaladanza, the contemporary dance Innocence of the United Kingdom; and the Christmas Gala 2019 with the national cast.

 

Also, well known orchestras appear in the 2019 Programme such as the Beijing Symphony Orchestra (May 11), London Symphony Orchestra (May 15), Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra (May 21), the Israel Philharmonic (July 22), Symphony by the Peru of Juan Diego Flórez (August 24), in addition to Mischa Maisky and Slovak Philharmonic of Slovakia (November 6).

 

In the field “soloists of the world” include the Palestinian duo Kohlberg-Haroni (February 15th), the national pianists Juan José Chuquisengo & José Luis Madueño (May 2nd), the Korean Yeol Eum Son (September 25th) and the director of old music Jordi Savall (November 13th).

 

In classic, contemporary and urban dance, tango, flamenco and other regional artistic expressions, highlights include the participation of Avant Garden Dance Company & The Place and the Scottish Dance Theater of Great Britain, the Spanish dancer Israel Galván, Martha Graham Dance Company of the United States , the Argentine choreographer Mora Godoy, the National Ballet of Spain and Marie Chouinard Company of Canada.

 

The offer of the National Grand Theater will include symphonic concerts, recitals with soloists and choirs, Peruvian repertoires, exclusive spaces such as the Afuera Fest (during February and March with 8 local bands of popular genres that will be presented on the GTN terrace) and the ever-present Café & Concert (from April to November a cycle of 46 dates with classical music, chamber music, jazz and folklore).

 

A special mention deserve the Peruvian shows that the band Libido, Cecilia Barraza, Chimango Lares and Alejandro & María Laura will offer, as well as the participation of the Japanese group Kodo and their traditional percussion show (November 23 and 24).

 

The articulation with Festivals is fundamental for the sustainability of the local and international exhibition circuit, under this concept the spaces for the promotion of theater, dance, music and cinema have been prioritized through the IV International Festival of High Season Theater, FAE Lima 2019, 31st International Festival of New Dance, 23rd Lima Film Festival, Labor Room and Jazz Month.
