COVID-19: Changes in seasons of OLA Network’s members

Due to the measures taken by OMS for the spread of COVID-19, some Latin American theaters are beginning to cancel shows to be held during the month of March.

ARGENTINA

TEATRO COLÓN OF BUENOS AIRES

Teatro Colón reports that, following the provisions and measures announced in Decree No. 140-20 of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, all functions and scheduled guided tours are suspended until April 19 inclusive.

TEATRO DEL BICENTENARIO DE SAN JUAN

By order of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture it is communicated that, due to the sanitary provisions taken in relation to the prevention of contagion of respiratory contagion diseases, all functions, guided tours and ticket service are suspended until further notice.

 

The value of the tickets purchased in cash will be refunded, presenting the same, at the theater box office from next Wednesday, March 18, from 10:00 to 20:00 and, the tickets purchased by credit card, the purchase amount will be refunded in the next summary. 

 

 

JUVENTUS LYRICA

Due to preventive measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the sale of fertilizers for the 2020 season is suspended until further notice. We will be in contact through our usual communication channels to report on the resumption of our activities.

 

BRAZIL

FESTIVAL AMAZONAS DE ÓPERA OF MANAUS

The Secretary of State for Culture and Creative Economy suspends the programming of cultural spaces managed by the portfolio. The Amazonas jazz festival, Festival Amazonas de Ópera, as well as the rehearsals of Bumbás were postponed. The measure is preventive and complies with the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and the Government of Amazonas to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the State.

 

According to the secretary Marcos Apolo Muniz, all activities in cultural spaces will be suspended until April 1, at this first moment. The agenda will be reevaluated every fortnight, according to the state scenario.

 

“We are restructuring our agenda with the reprogramming of a series of cultural activities that were planned within our calendar, as well as we will review the opening hours of public spaces administered by the secretariat, to follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Secretary of State of Saúde, regarding the containment of the coronavirus in the State ”, he declares. “We will keep the public updated every 15 days or also when necessary to inform.”

 

Festivals: to avoid crowding, the Amazonas Theater will not have tourist visits and has postponed the tenth edition of the Amazonas Jazz Festival, which will take place from March 21 to 29. The only activity of the event that remains is the audience for the semifinal of the Young Instrumentalists Contest. The evaluations of the 14 candidates take place from Monday (03/16) to Thursday (03/19), without audience.

 

Festival Amazonas de Ópera, which took place from April 18 to June 7, will also be postponed. The new festival dates will be announced in due course.

Santa Marcelina Cultura reports that following the guidelines of the São Paulo State Government and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, Theatro São Pedro will start operating from March 13, with a maximum occupancy of 70% of its capacity. CHILE

MUNICIPAL DE SANTIAGO 

By virtue of the progressive advance of the coronavirus in the country and the announcement of the President of the Republic on Friday, March 13 in which, among other measures, from this Monday all public events for more than 500 people will be prohibited, the Directorate General of the Municipal de Santiago together with the Directory chaired by the Mayor Felipe Alessandri, have had to suspend all the shows originally scheduled from next Monday March 16, 2020, and until next May inclusive.

 

This measure, taken to mitigate the risk of contagion, affects the shows in the main hall that include ballet, opera, concerts, recitals and Pequeño Municipal performances. All the shows scheduled at the Arrau Hall from today until next May inclusive, in addition to the guided tours, should also have been suspended.

 

For those who have already purchased their tickets for these shows, the Municipal Theater will create a virtual card associated with the buyer’s RUT with the amount equivalent to their ticket (s), which can be used when the suspended shows are rescheduled or in the purchase of other titles of the season. TEATRO DEL LAGO DE FRUTILLAR

Following the spread of the coronavirus in the country and the recent announcement by President Sebastián Piñera to close international borders, strengthen quarantine compliance and restrict public events to a maximum of 50 people, the Teatro del Lago Foundation has had to suspend all its shows and activities scheduled for April. Due to the progressive increase of the coronavirus in the country and the announcements of the President of the Republic, the Corporation for Culture and the Arts reports the following actions, in order to help protect the public, artists and our workers.

We suspend the shows scheduled from Monday March 16 at Teatro Regional Lucho Gatica.

The cleanliness and hygiene of our rooms and spaces is increased, seeking to ensure the availability of gel alcohol, garbage cans in the access to rooms, the Theater ticket office and common spaces of all our venues. Increase the frequency of hand washing according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. This applies before and after attending cultural centers, regardless of the reason.

TEATRO REAL OF MADRID

Teatro Real, following the measures adopted by the Council of Ministers regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19 and in accordance with the Government of Spain and the Community of Madrid has taken the following measures:  

 

1.- performances on the 17th, 19th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd and 25th of March the opera Achilles in Sciros, whose premiere was scheduled for next Tuesday, March 17th, will take place behind closed doors, without an audience, and will be broadcast live to through the video platform of Teatro Real “My Opera Player”.

 

The functions on March 26 and 27 are awaiting the next guidelines from the Health Authorities.

 

All subscribers and ticket buyers of this opera will be able to enjoy it for free, on the same day and time that they planned to attend the Teatro Real, through the “My Opera Player” platform. 

 

2.- The function on March 27 will be broadcast live for all of Spain by La 2 de TVE in a special program that will start at 19:15 and for the rest of Europe on the ARTE channel.

TEATRO DEL CANAL

The Community of Madrid closes Teatros del Canal, the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Auditorium Theater and the Canal Choreographic Center as a consequence of the coronavirus (COVID-19) evolution for 15 calendar days. The shows that will be affected are:

  • Curva España, from the Chévere company.
  • Love Chapter 2 by LEV (Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar).
  • The Plaza de El Conde de Torrefiel.
  • Achterland by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and her company Rosas.
  • The Imitation of life show by the Hungarian company Proton Theater. 

In the case of the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Auditorium Theater, the Easter Festival which was scheduled for April 9, 10 and 11 and which included three concerts: Madre de Deus. Music and medieval liturgy, by Capella de Ministrers; He died for sin: Spanish sacred songs, from Concerto 1700; and Music for Lent, by La Grande Chapelle. GRAN TEATRO DEL LICEU

AUDITORIO DE TENERIFE – ÓPERA DE TENERIFE

Auditorio de Tenerife, based on the measures that the Tenerife Council has adopted, suspends or postpones all its shows and activities with public attendance scheduled for the next 14 days starting today, Thursday, March 12, 2020.

Tickets purchased for Mulieribus from the Tenerife Baroque Orchestra (today March 12), Lyric from the Creative Pan-Hispanic Music cycle (March 14), Lucrezia Borgia from Tenerife Opera (March 17, 19 and 21), Structures of Quantum Ensemble (March 20) will be returned automatically as soon as possible in the same form of payment with which they were purchased.

TEATRO DE LA ZARZUELA

After the publication of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, declaring the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19, the measures included in this information are extended, to less, until March 29 (inclusive).

 

Following the package of additional measures announced by the Council of Ministers in “high transmission areas” of Covid-19, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, has decided to adopt a series of temporary measures in order to guarantee the health of our spectators and users:

 

  • The closure during the next fifteen days of all our scenic spaces in Madrid (National Music Auditorium, the Zarzuela Theater, the Comedy Theater, the María Guerrero Theater and the Valle-Inclán Theater) and, therefore, the cancellation of all the shows of the organization and of private entities organized in these venues during those dates.
  • The suspension of teaching activity at the Show Technology Center (CTE) until March 26 (inclusive).
  • The suspension of the sale of tickets by all our channels (online, telephone and box office) of the shows scheduled from March 11 to 26 (both inclusive). The functions and concerts scheduled from March 26 continue to be sold today by phone and internet.
