With Le nozze di Figaro concludes the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy at INBA of Mexico

Las bodas de Fígaro - Ópera de Bellas Artes

The opera buffa is presented under the stage direction of Mauricio García Lozano, and with the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro de Bellas Artes, at the Palacio de Bellas Artes on November 15th, 18th, 20th and 25th

The wedding of Fígaro is a very serious comedy that touches on topical issues and wants to highlight two lines: social conflict and generic. It is a work of entanglements, very complicated and delicious, where there is a huge emphasis on working with the actors, without which it would be an opera that could not be counted; that is why we have a specular cast of people not only intelligent, but highly proactive. ”

This was pointed out by Mauricio García Lozano, stage director of the show, which will be offered by the National Opera Company (CNO), accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro de Bellas Artes, in the Main Hall of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, on Thursdays 15th at 20:00, and Sundays 18th and 25th at 17:00 and Tuesday 20th at 20:00.

With opera buffa The Marriage of Figaro, the CNO concludes the trilogy Mozart-Da Ponte that is part of its 2018 season. The cast is composed of artists of international stature, such as Denis Sedov (Figaro), Armando Piña (Conde Amaviva) , Narine Yeghiyan (Almaviva), Letitia Vitelaru (Susana), as well as a group of Mexican soloists, among them: Jacinta Barbachano (Cherubino), Arturo López (Don Bartolo), Gabriela Thierry (Marcelina) and Luis Alberto Sánchez (Basilio).

García Lozano explained that it is a staging whose argument takes place in a house that is located in Seville, Spain, and in the version that the CNO will offer, it was located at the beginning of the 20th century, in such a way that the environment rural of the work of the beginning of the century can remember our field. “History is very recognizable to everyone and the validity of its themes makes it universal, that’s why it is an opera that is irresistible, recognizable and enjoyable.

“We want to recognize the characters as their own and personal, the work takes place in Spain where Lorenzo da Ponte placed it, but it has mattered a lot that people see masters and servants of a house they can recognize. There is a very important social issue in the work and another on the fight of the generic order between men and women, “he added.

Alonso Escalante, Director of the CNO, pointed out that Las bodas de Fígaro is a work that is part of the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy, along with the works Don Giovanni and Così fan tutte. “This is something unusual, to see a trinomial raised in a row gives coherence to the programmatic proposal of the CNO and the public allows you to appreciate the threads of these three operas.”

Srba Dinic, conductor director, affirmed that The Marriage of Figaro was the first opera buffa performed by a German composer. “Mozart showed that he could do it with a work where voices have specific characteristics. It is one of the most important works in the history of music, it is interesting and I am sure that we will have a very good opening, with singers of a very high level “.

Bass Denis Sedov affirmed that it is a great pleasure to work on a Mozart work with the character of Figaro that allows him to draw new colors and vocal proposals within a large production, while the baritone Armando Piña assured that working within the Mozart trilogy It has been a great experience, because it is a very rich composer that has allowed him to have a lot of fun with the characters that emphasize the power struggle.
