CEAC starts campaign in support of folklorists and cuequeros

Cast and team from the Centro de Extensión Artística y Cultural de la Universidad de Chile (CEAC) announce a new crusade for the benefit of artists affected by the cancellation of inns and ramadas due to Covid-19. The initiative, which seeks to repeat the success of the first donation campaign carried out last May, will run throughout September at www.ceactv.cl, where a virtual inn will also be broadcast on the 17th of this month.

In addition to the serious crisis that for months has affected the artistic and cultural sector as a result of the arrival of the Coronavirus in Chile, in these National Holidays the suspension of all the inns, ramadas and traditional events throughout the country is added. With this, artists from the world of folklore and cueca are being severely beaten, due to the impossibility of performing the paid work for which they prepare throughout the year.

In this context, it is essential to generate a support network in favor of popular artists. Thus, after the success and support obtained with the “Toi Toi” initiative last May – which managed to assist more than 70 artists with a contribution in cash – once again the members of the stable casts of the CEAC, as well as their teams of coordination, technicians and professionals, promote a second campaign of donations: “Tiqui toi toi!”.

In this way, artists and workers of the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile, the Chilean National Ballet, the Symphonic Choir and the Vocal Camerata of the University of Chile, join in a crusade that also includes an online event. It is a virtual inn that will feature various numbers of Chilean folk music, song and dance, from 12:00 to 20:00 on Thursday, September 17, through Ceac TV.

The public may make their donations throughout the month through the payment button used at www.ceactv.cl, or by transfer to the account enabled for such purposes:
