Registrations are open for 58th Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition 

To facilitate participation and bring the competition closer to singers from other countries, Gran Teatre del Liceu has an agreement with Teatro Real de Madrid, Paris Opera, Royal Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Metropolitan Opera House, Los Angeles Opera, National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and Bolshoi Theater in Moscow to celebrate preliminary auditions. End phase will be held from the 22 to the January 24, 2021 at Gran Teatre del Liceu.

 

 

Founded in 1963 by Jacint Vilardell in memory of the Catalan tenor Francisco Viñas, this contest has established itself as one of the most important competitions in the world of opera, oratory and Lied, where young singers from around the world participate every year.  

 

To facilitate participation and bring the competition closer to singers from other countries, the Gran Teatre del Liceu has an agreement with the opera houses of Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, Beijing and Moscow to celebrate preliminary tests.

 

The Final phase will be held on January 22, 2021 at Gran Teatre del Liceu, as well as the Final Concert with the winners, accompanied by Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra.  

 

The winners, in addition to obtaining the Official Awards, obtain other awards such as study bags and contracts for performances in different theaters and festivals.

 

In the framework of the collaboration between the Liceu and Teatro Real de Madrid, the winners of the main prizes of the Contest will participate in the “Concert of the awarded artists of the 58th edition of the Tenor Viñas Contest”, which will take place on June 6 2021 at Teatro Real in Madrid.

The preliminary auditions will take place on the days:

  • November 11 at Teatro alla Scala in Milan
  • November 12 at Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London
  • November 16 at Metropolitan Opera House in New York
  • November 17 at National Center for Performing Arts Beijing
  • November 18 at Los Angeles Opera
  • November 18 at Paris National Opera
  • November 19 at Russian Bolshoi Theater in Moscow
  • November 19 at Teatro Real in Madrid
  • From January 13 to 15, 2021: Gran Teatre del LiceU in Barcelona, ​​at the Liceu Conservatory of Music.
