The debut of tenor Javier Camarena on the stage of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires

Next Sunday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m., the concert that marked the debut in our first coliseum of the Mexican tenor Javier Camarena, together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires, directed by the master Enrique Arturo Diemecke.

 

The concert performed during the 2017 season included overtures and arias by composers such as Charles Gounod, Georges Bizet, Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti and Giuseppe Verdi, and the operas Roméo et Juliette, Les pêcheurs de perles, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, La fille du régiment, Don Pasquale, Lucia di Lammermoor, La forza del Destino, La Traviata and Rigoletto.

 

Javier Camarena is one of the great stars of opera worldwide. After training in his country, Mexico, he entered the International Opera Studio in Zurich, under the tutelage of Francisco Araiza. He stands out in a repertoire of great virtuosity with works by Bellini, Bizet, Donizetti, Haydn, Mozart, Rossini and Verdi. Along with world-renowned singers, he performed main roles directed by famous teachers, such as Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta and Fabio Luisi. He performed in some of the most important theaters and concert halls in Europe and the United States.

 

Since 2007, the Mexican maestro Enrique Arturo Diemecke has been Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires. In 2017, he was appointed General Artistic and Production Director of the Teatro Colón. He was Artistic Director of the Opera de Bellas Artes de México, where he directed more than 30 lyrical productions. He conducted some of the most important orchestras in the world and was awarded the prestigious Gran Prix de l’Académie du Disque Lyrique on several occasions.
