Ópera Latinoamérica joins Culture for the Planet

Ópera Latinoamérica (OLA) has joined the Culture for the Planet Alliance, a global community that brings together arts and cultural organizations, professional associations, networks, and researchers committed to advancing sustainability across the cultural sector.
Together with Alliance members from around the world, we look forward to contributing to the collective development of practical, research-based solutions for more sustainable arts and culture.
At OLA, we believe that cultural organizations can no longer be sustained solely through artistic excellence or institutional tradition. In today’s context, their legitimacy depends on their ability to articulate a clear, shared, and measurable purpose that guides programming, resource allocation, audience engagement, fundraising, and decision-making.

At OLA, together with the Culture for the Planet Alliance, we are:
– Building a common approach to sustainability management.
– Co-creating the foundations of a shared sustainability standard.
– Developing new capabilities and preparing the sustainability leaders of the future.
These solutions are developed collaboratively with Alliance members to ensure they reflect the realities, challenges, and diversity of arts and cultural organizations worldwide. Through the co-production of knowledge, members contribute their expertise, institutional experience, and regional perspectives to create practical tools that can benefit the sector as a whole. This collaborative approach lies at the heart of the Alliance’s mission and reflects its commitment to combining academic rigor with professional expertise.
We are excited to be part of this collective effort toward meaningful and systemic change.
About the Culture for the Planet Alliance
Launched in October 2024 as part of the Culture for the Planet project, led by the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the Alliance has quickly established itself as a global platform where researchers and practitioners co-develop practical solutions for the sector. Drawing on evidence-based research and the expertise of its members, the Alliance is helping shape the future of sustainability in the arts and culture.
