The Teatro Municipal de Lima will host the 19th OLA Annual Conference in 2026.

Recently incorporated into the Ópera Latinoamérica network, the Teatro Municipal de Lima will host in June 2026 a new edition of the OLA Annual Conference, which will bring together representatives from Ibero-American opera theatres, festivals and companies.

Between 16 and 19 June 2026, the Teatro Municipal de Lima will host the 19th Annual Conference of Ópera Latinoamérica (OLA).

The theatre of the Peruvian capital joined OLA at the end of 2024 and will host, for the first time, a conference of the network of Ibero-American opera theatres, festivals and companies. Organised annually, OLA conferences bring together representatives of the organisations that form part of the network to work on objectives and challenges, promote and circulate new projects, develop agreements and co-productions, and discuss topics related to the future of opera in the region.

The most recent OLA conferences have taken place at the Teatro Amazonas de Manaos, Brasil (2023), el Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Chile (2024) and the  Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía de Valencia, España (2025).

The announcement was recently made during the 18th OLA Annual Conference, held between 17 and 20 June 2025 with the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia as the host theatre. Titled Theatres: Audiences and Ideas for the Future, this latest edition brought together representatives from various Ibero-American opera theatres, festivals and companies, as well as meetings with the organisation Ópera XXI and a series of sessions to reflect on topics such as artistic programming and sustainability in the performing arts.
