With open rehearsals, an audiovisual micro opera and a dramatized guided tour, Municipal de Santiago celebrates the Public Month

Through this program of activities, the Theater joins the first version of the Public Month, which the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage will promote throughout November in different cultural spaces in Chile. The Municipal de Santiago will also hold an audience development workshop and a conversation about variety shows in Santiago theaters. For the first time in Chile and in Latin America, the Public Month is celebrated, and the Municipal Theater of Santiago will be added with a dozen free activities. It is a program framed in the National Plan for the Development and Training of Publics of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, which will run throughout November with open rehearsals, an audiovisual micro-opera, a dramatized guided tour, a workshop audience development, a conversation about variety shows in Santiago theaters, among other activities.

 

This celebration has as a precedent the Day of the Spectator, which has been held in Europe since 2015 every November, and seeks to highlight the role of people as recipients and active participants of the cultural ecosystem. In the case of the Municipal de Santiago, the activities will be face-to-face and digital, both for adults and children.

 

“We are happy to join the celebration of Public Month with face-to-face and digital activities for our audiences, all diverse and essential, because they are the heart and soul of everything we do,” says Carmen Gloria Larenas, general director of the Theater.

 

The activities began this Tuesday, November 2, at 9:00 a.m., with a guided visit for girls and boys of a Sename residence, who were received by the Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Consuelo Valdés and the general director of the Municipal Theater of Santiago, Carmen Gloria Larenas. During the visit, you will visit different corners of the Theater with a review of the milestones that have occurred here. Activities will continue this Friday, November 5, with a new “Live Tour”, an instance recently released by the Municipal of Santiago so that the public can get to know the facilities and, at the same time, witness some of the rehearsals of their artistic bodies. On this occasion, the invitation will be to attend the general rehearsal of Concert 3: “Contrasts”, in which the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by maestro Rodolfo Fischer.

 

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, November 9, the “Audience Development Workshop: An Applied Experience” will be held, which will be in charge of the Theater Community and Audiences coordinator, Cecilia Herrera; on Wednesday November 17 there will be a guided tour of this heritage building; and on Monday 22nd, the micro opera “La Compuerta Nº 12” will be broadcast, composed by Miguel Farías and with stage and audiovisual direction by Christine Hucke for higher education students.

 

Another guided tour, but focused on scenographic painting, will take place on Tuesday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. “Guided tour … An adventure to scenographic painting” will be aimed at higher education students, who will be able to learn about one of the main trades that take place in the Theater: the scenographic opening act. On the 23rd, at 6:00 p.m., the talk “Spectacularity, novelty and scene. Study on the critical and discursive reception of variety shows in two theaters in Santiago de Chile: 1855-1875 ”, which will be in charge of the researchers Macarena Roblero and Ana María Díaz.

 

The Month of the Public in the Municipal of Santiago will end on Thursday, November 25 with a “Live Tour” and the dress rehearsal of Don Giovanni, an opera in concert format that will be directed by Pedro-Pablo Prudencio, resident director of the Philharmonic Orchestra from Santiago.
