Teatro del Bicentenario de San Juan, new cultural pole of Argentina

Don Carlo, Aida, Sleeping Beauty, Piazzolla’s popular opera Maria de Buenos Aires and international concerts are some of the highlights that make up the 2018 season of Teatro del  Bicentenario of San Juan

On December 21, 2017 and with a brief presentation with videos, the shows that will grace the main stage of the Bicentenario during 2018, which includes 23 titles and 50 functions that will take place from March to December, were unveiled.

The new Season of the Theater includes among its works some special novelties as the arrival of Jorge Drexler, with “Lifeguard of Ice“, internationally recognized Uruguayan singer-songwriter; “John Malkovich“, the legendary American actor who plays a paranoid dictator of a fictitious country in full decline; “Africa Umoja“, an explosion of South African dance and songs seen in more than 50 countries around the world; “Don Carlo“, the first feature that will feature more than 280 artists on stage with a stunning stage performance; “Inti Huama“, a tribute to the musical group that was formed several decades ago and that knew how to represent San Juan with its folklore at an international level; “La Bella Durmiente“, the ballet that will be directed by Mario Galizzi, accompanied by the eximian sanjuanina dancer, Victoria Balanza and a cast of San Juan dancers that will be selected by audition; the “Black Theater of Prague”, based on the use of the total darkness of the scene and with the ultraviolet light the objects come to life and move in a mysterious and unexpected way. The adaptation of the final show of the 2018 National Sun Festival, “Difunta Correa: Amor de Madre“, a tribute to the mythical figure of Deolinda Correa, popular icon and symbol of maternal protection; the Opera Tango, with “María de Buenos Aires“, an original and unpublished staging produced entirely by the Bicentenario Theater; “Pixel“, a poetic mixture between dance, and technology; “Aida”, the opera that will close the season in the Bicentenario, with an imposing staging, scenery and costumes of the Teatro Colón and the participation of the University Choir, the Orchestra of the FFHA of the UNSJ, under the musical direction of Emmanuel Siffert and the direction of scene of Aníbal Lápiz; are some of the titles that can be enjoyed in this second year that the Bicentenario Theater passes.
