Abstract: The Gran Teatre del Liceu, created in 1847 on the Rambla de Barcelona, is an opera house that has maintained its function as a cultural and artistic center over the years. In its more than 150 years of history, it has become a benchmark for national and international lyric, where soloists and creative teams of reference have performed. It is among the 15 most important theaters in the world. As an opera theater, the objective of the Gran Teatre del Liceu is the creation and programming of works of art that have music as a preferred language and the dissemination of this art to the largest number of citizens. In addition to opera, dance and symphonic music are the main contents of its programming. The main instrument to achieve this is artistic programming, determined by the so-called “Master Plan” signed between public administrations and the Theater. It is currently a theater of public ownership (Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council, Diputación de Barcelona and Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport) administered by the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation, which includes, in addition to the aforementioned institutions, the Council of Patronage and the Society of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
