OLA rewards the winner of Trujillo Lyric Singing Contest

In its mission to support the young lyrical talents of the region, Opera Latinoamérica will award a prize of USD $ 1,000 dollars to the best Latin American talent of the International Lyrical Contest City of Trujillo, to be held from November 2 to 10 of this year 2017, In the city of Trujillo – Peru.

The Contest organized by the Center for Cultural Promotion Trujillo, CEPROCUT, was founded 20 years ago by who is still its Director, Mrs. Maruja Alemán. The contest, in which more than half a hundred leading exponents of international lyricism from America, Asia and Europe take part, also has recognized International Masters and Pianists, who performs a series of activities that benefit the artists: Master Classes of singing, piano, violin and choral conducting. As well as recitals of music by prestigious masters of international status, allowing to raise the academic level of artists from Trujillo, and the visiting artists.

The scope of the competition is the classical lyric song (opera, oratorio, concert song). This is a professional competition for young professionals or in early days; with an international level since the winners are at the height of presentation in international professional rooms.

The City of Trujillo Award has been distinguished for years for its seriousness, its exigency, its cordiality and because it puts the respect to the lyrical song and the singer above everything. His Musical Director and jury since 2003, Carlos Aransay tells us that this year will have a special edition since they celebrate their twentieth anniversary and it is the first time that OLA rewards with an incentive of USD 1,000 dollars to the winner.

The competition consists of 3 qualifying rounds, and after the final a gala is performed with the Trujillo Symphony Orchestra. They also have magnificent pianists, such as Susana Cardonnet of Argentina and Manuel Matarrita of Costa Rica. Some of the judges who have participated are personalities from the world of Latin American lyric theater, such as Alejandro Chacón or Elisa Brex, as well as many prestigious singing teachers, directors, etc.
Among the prizes awarded are the recital in London, and auditions with agents in the British capital. As well as the opportunity to present the winners to auditions with the casting head of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
