OLA welcomes two new members

Ópera Latinoamérica greets two new members: Compañía Lírica Nacional (CLN) de Costa Rica and Juventus Lyrica de Buenos Aires

The National Lyric Company was born on January 22, 1980, when the state begins to allocate a budget for the realization of an annual season that satisfies the interest of the public and Costa Rican artists. Currently, the CLN is a Technical Unit of the National Music Center (CNM), has an Artistic Director and other administrative staff, relying on the programming of the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) and the National Symphonic Chorus (CSN) to the presentation of the annual seasons.

Along with an intense work of recitals and concerts with the participation of national singers in the main auditoriums and tours of cultural extension, in its years of existence the National Lyrical Company has presented both in the National Theater and in the Popular Theater Melico Salazar works summits of the universal repertoire of composers, such as: Giacomo Puccini, Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Charles Gounod, Georges Bizet, Vincenzo Bellini, Carl Orff, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gaetano Donizetti, Ruggero Leoncavallo and Pietro Mascagni, as well as composers nationals among which Benjamín Gutiérrez stand out with the representation of the operas “El Pájaro del Crepúsculo”, and “Las Dos Evas”; and Carlos Escalante Macaya, with the play “Nosotros Dos”.

Juventus Lyrica is a non-profit civil association that since 1999 works to promote young artists and develop a space of excellence in Buenos Aires so that the opera can be appreciated by all. Its mission is to promote training opportunities and professional performance for young artists, develop in the large audience the interest in opera and offer an alternative and excellent space to enjoy the lyrical genre. Since its foundation they have made more than 93 productions, where more than 750 artists could discover and show their talent.
