Cia. Opera São Paulo travels with the Giacomo Puccini’s love geisha

With 6 functions programmed in three theaters of the state of São Paulo, the Cia. Ópera São Paulo will add to the celebration of World Opera Day on October 25, dedicating the performance at the Sérgio Cardoso Theater to this world event.

 

Scheduled to perform in the capital and interior of the State of São Paulo, one of the most popular titles of the Tuscan composer Giacomo Puccini, Madama Butterfly will have six functions in a production of the Cia. Ópera São Paulo. Scenarios, costumes, orchestra and choir will pass through the cities of Santo André, São Paulo and Jacareí. 

Its realization is possible by the collaboration between the Ministry of Citizenship, Government of the State of São Paulo, Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, APAA – Paulista Association of Friends of Art, Town Halls of Jacareí and Santo André and the Cia. Ópera São Paulo.The project was made possible with the sponsorship of Colgate. 

The Symphony Orchestra of Santo André will be under the regency of maestro Abel Rocha and the stage direction is by Jorge Coli, professor at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), critic and columnist in one of the most important newspapers in São Paulo, the “Folha de São Paulo “.

The geisha Cio Cio San will be starring soprano Marly Montoni, who has already consolidated its importance in the operatic scene of Brazil. The Pinkerton sailor will have a double interpretation with the tenors Fernando de Castro and Paulo Paolillo alternating in the functions. El cast is completed with soloists Thomas David, Ulisses Montoni, Luiz Gustavo Lassen, Marcelo Mesquita, Catarina Taira, Marcus Ouros, Alex Meister and Cristiane Mesquita.
